A new Nominated Neighbour scheme is being trialled in Sudbury and Haverhill as part of a partnership between Suffolk Police and Suffolk Neighbourhood Watch, supported by Suffolk Trading Standards
Do you or someone you know feel vulnerable in their home?

The Nominated Neighbour Scheme is aimed to help elderly and vulnerable members of the community to feel safer in their homes, and to reduce the chances of distraction burglars targeting the area.

A distraction burglary involves criminals tricking their way into a home by taking advantage of the trust shown to them by the occupier.

This new scheme initiative seeks to put a “guardian” in place to act as an intermediary, called a Nominated Neighbour.

With a Nominated Neighbour in place, an elderly or vulnerable person no longer needs to open the door to a stranger and risk being taken advantage of.
