Funding Support from Suffolk PCC and Chief Constable

The Suffolk Neighbourhood Watch Association, part of the registered charity the Neighbourhood Watch Network, is delighted to announce direct funding support from the Suffolk Police and Crime Commissioner and Chief Constable. The grant is made available through the Police Property Act Fund: a fund generated from the sale of items in the possession of the Police.

“This is wonderful support”, a spokesperson for the Association Executive committee says. “The funding spans over three years and offers a valuable long-term platform for our goals to reinvigorate Neighbourhood Watch up and down the county. It will help bring additional benefits, not only to how we partner with the Police, but to our current active Watch schemes. It will strengthen our determined drive to promote and extend the values and benefits of Neighbourhood Watch, whilst building safer and stronger communities, be it a single street, a block of flats, a housing estate, or a whole village or town”.

“The timing is excellent. Our most immediate project is boosting our partnership work with the Police to promote their brand new “Suffolk Connected” interactive messaging and intelligence-gathering service. Our membership, which is now over 3,000, is already set to receive these messages and we have new members signing up every day”!

Police and Crime Commissioner for Suffolk Tim Passmore says: “I am a huge supporter of the tremendous work carried out by Neighbourhood Watch across the county and the unfailing commitment of its loyal volunteers. I am delighted to show my support through this grant from our Police Property Act Fund.

“Over the years I have met with NHW on a regular basis and this relationship is important to me as I work to ensure the policing needs of everyone living and working in Suffolk are met as effectively as possible. I really appreciate their support, particularly at the moment as they help us promote the new “Suffolk Connected” messaging system.

“Suffolk Neighbourhood Watch plays a vital role in supporting the Constabulary and helping me to achieve the objectives set out in my Police and Crime Plan, working together we are stronger.”

It is free to join Neighbourhood Watch and at the same time receive the new “Suffolk Connected” email messages. All you have to do is register on www.ourwatch.org.uk

You can also do the postcode search under the header “Find my local NW”. If there is a scheme where you live, join it. If no local scheme, you can apply to start your own scheme and our experienced volunteers give you all the necessary support and starter materials, free of charge.
